Blog 4 Nov 16Another fantastic week completed, but still a lot of preparation work and reading to be done over the weekend just to keep ahead of my schedule.

Everything I do now seems to be controlled by my government calendar, fortunately DHSC and DED help manage my diary and events, which is incredibly helpful.

Monday was a relatively quiet day for meetings or briefings, which enabled me to catch up and to prepare for the Keys sitting and some Departmental meetings later in the week.

I enjoyed the House of Keys sitting once again this week as it gave me an opportunity to fulfil some Election (Manifesto) promises in respect of applying an element of fairness and means testing to rent levels for the island’s social housing from April 2017.

This week I also attended several briefs and meetings relating to the TT, Retail, Tourism and Villa / Gaiety, along with undertaking a full tour of the Villa Marina and its facilities.

I also attended a number of DHSC introduction meetings and briefing, which concluded with a full Department meeting this morning.

The role certainly isn’t a 9-5 job, as I spent a couple of evenings working until around 23.00 reading through a mountain of paperwork, agendas, briefings and working papers, but I was able to get a couple of hours to myself this afternoon.

Bring on Monday – can’t wait…
