An Onchan MHK is hoping to refer discussion over assisted dying to a committee of MHKs.

The Assisted Dying Bill is due to have its second reading in the House of Keys on Tuesday (31 October).

If it’s carried Rob Callister wants to see the clauses of it reviewed by five politicians who would then produce a report by the end of February next year.

The topic has divided opinion – Christian campaigner Peter Murcott told Manx Radio it contradicts the Suicide Prevention strategy:
